Poem: Drifting to the Edges
tiring of the center
with deliberate nonchalance
drifted to the edges
paired with a portion of a painting exhibited in "Anromones: The Post-paradise between Human and Animals "held at the Tainan Art Museum (Building 2) I snapped in December 2023.
Artist is Chen Pei-Yi (陳珮怡), a renowned Taiwanese artist known for her meticulous "Gongbi" (heavy color) technique on silk. She is famous for capturing the texture of cat fur and the delicate play of light using mineral pigments on silk, which gives the artwork its characteristic soft, luminous glow.
I was drawn to the work by the subtle way she placed the outlines of a human form, giving the impression of movement away from the center towards the edge, where a cat is situated (cropped out here). I recalled a poem by Rumi, which was at the intersection of the 2 artists intent and then gave rise to the poem.

Tiring of the friendship
or relationship
&
somewhat embarrassed
they start to pull away
pretending
nothing to see here
gaslighting, really.
Don't participate
be clear.
Stoically,
break it off
you deserve better.
