Poem text: The Green Submarine Captain Kim dived down deep into the ocean, In her green submarine called ‘The Gherkin in Motion’. Weaving past whales with the help of Mate Stu, Who steered the sub like a foot guides a shoe. The Gherkin sped on ‘til it reached the sea bed. From a map in her lap, Captain Kim calmly read: “At the Great Anchor, turn sharply north-west.” Mate Stu said “Aye aye!” and pressed on with their quest. Past anglerfish, tuna and even a shark, They gunned for a tunnel disguised by the dark. The sub reappeared in a shower of light, As before them appeared a fabled delight. The green submarine was a craft full of glee: A glittering city submerged by the sea! Their eyes bulged out wide like a great Praying Mantis. Captain Kim and Mate Stu had discovered Atlantis!

Taking another trip on the Dirigible Balloon with the (decidedly not sky-bound) Green Submarine!

Toast I butter up my toasted bread, and then I think, What kind of spread for breakfast do I most deserve? Perhaps this strawberry preserve? Or would that feel like throwing shade on thick-cut orange marmalade? When younger I had often whacked on thick black globs of yeast extract. Now I preferred a sweeter topping, like peanut, chocolate, there’s no stopping me when I get so engrossed about things I can put on toast. And then to me this thought occurred: How long since I’ve had lemon curd? Wait, wait! I want...no, I’ve not got any more apricot compote. (I do have honey, by the way, but I don’t much fancy that today.) It might be truer to who I am to select some seedless raspberry jam. Oh forget it, I’m done with all this clutter, I’ll simply have my toast with butter!
