They produced their first electric clocks in the early 1930s, but judging by the format of the company's name on the dial, this one probably dates from the start of the 1940s. I love the Art Deco design of the hands.

Smiths English Clock Systems Art Deco clock on what I think is a former Galbraith's Store on Eglinton Street on the Southside of Glasgow. Smiths was a pioneer of electric clocks, and particularly synchronised clock systems for industrial locations.

One of the most futuristic cars of the 1930s — the 1935 Avions Voisin C25 Aérodyne. With its Art Deco curves, porthole windows, and sliding electric sunroof, this coachbuilt masterpiece looks like it drove straight out of a dream. #ArtDecoDesign #PreWarCars #AutomotiveHistory

Art Deco Style encapsulated the wealth and influence of the industrial class at the turn of the 20th century. Combining modern ideas about shapes and elegance with glamorous materials and industrial processes, the movement came to represent the luxuries of a changing world.
The Art Deco movement represented a variety of different styles, all governed by a series of principles: luxury, technology, and modernity. Above all, it was an extremely creative period, full of innovation and new ideas.
With the rise of industry and the gradual decline of aristocracy, people in the middle and upper classes began seeking out luxuries. Using industrial technologies, Art Deco designers incorporated expensive materials into common pieces, from home radios to living room furniture.

Jean Prouvé (born April 8, 1901, Nancy, France—died March 23, 1984, Nancy) was a French engineer and builder known particularly for his contributions to the art and technology of prefabricated metal construction.
Trained as a metalworker, Prouvé owned and operated from 1922 to 1954 a workshop for the manufacture of wrought-iron objects. He emphasized advanced metalworking techniques and was particularly concerned with the design and production of architectural components and furniture. His significant early buildings using metal panels as curtain walls include a clubhouse at Buc Airport (1937–39) and the Maison du Peuple at Clichy, France (1938–39). Prouvé’s commitment to the idea of prefabricated building components is exemplified by his Headquarters of the Federation of Building Industries, Paris (1947–51), and by several experimental houses and a school. His exceptional grasp of building technology resulted in such striking designs as the Meridian Room of the Paris Observatory (1951), the Exhibition Hall at Nanterre, France (1956–58), and the Church of the Sacré-Coeur de Bonnecousse (1959–60), at Mazamet, France. Prouvé pioneered new structural techniques that would permit the efficient and inexpensive construction of buildings with prefabricated components while retaining architectural quality and individuality.
Prouvé taught at the School of Arts and Crafts (Conservatoire National des Arts et Matières) from 1958 to 1971. He was elected a member of the Academy of Architecture in Paris in 1972.

Full shot of a dark teal-green sports car, likely a Mazda Miata or similar model, positioned against a light gray background. The car is in a dynamic pose, angled slightly towards the viewer's right, and is highly stylized, with a potentially exaggerated or altered appearance.

The car's paint job displays a somewhat iridescent or metallic effect, causing the color to shift and appear different depending on the viewing angle. The body is smooth, and the car's headlights and wheels are dark, likely black or a dark gray. The car's windows appear reflective and possibly tinted. The roofline of the car appears to be a classic coupe style, not a convertible.

The text "Day 1" is present in the bottom right of the image, in a simple sans-serif font.

This custom body kit is a personal project still in the early design phase (day 1). Inspired by 1950s aesthetics and Art Deco styling, I hope to make this NA uniquely my own.

a SPECTACULAR pair of vintage 1930s 40s Art Deco handmade copper Stallions Horses wall-hanging artworks by Frank Rebajes of NYC. A fabulous pair very geometric treatment to the horses, and with hammered rim. The design looks influenced by early Picasso and Cubism! This pair are the largest pieces of wall-hanging art by Rebajes that I have seen! They are massive at 17.5" in diameter, and in incredible condition with just a few small flaws as shown! His earliest creations often show the influence of the Art Deco style and foreshadow the modernist era, and he also was hugely influenced by African and other tribal arts. The great thing about Rebajes and his unique creations in copper is that they will look great with any decor from Arts & Crafts to Art Deco to mid century modernist! Rebajes was one of the earliest studio jewelers in the US, starting back in the 1930s, but he also made a whole line of objects in copper as well including trays and wall plaques of all sizes and designs. He quickly went from selling his idiosyncratic creations on the street to a posh and stylish showroom on 5th Avenue!

Jean Dunand’s path to becoming a master in lacquer began when he met the acclaimed Japanese artist Seizo Sugawara in 1912. Seeking to learn more about dinanderie, Sugawara offered to teach Dunand the art of lacquer if he would teach Sugawara about dinanderie in return. This fortuitous exchange set Dunand on the path to become one of the preeminent lacquer artists of the twentieth century, eventually setting up his own famed lacquer workshop. His brilliant dexterity in the medium is most evident in his lacquer portraits, as exemplified by the current work.

His exploration and mastery of lacquer work garnered attention of various patrons and led to many important commissions such as the interiors of the Normandie ocean liner and the noted San Francisco apartment of Templeton Crocker.

Dunand’s striking and elegant works also found favor with the most important fashion couturiers of his time, such as Madeleine Vionnet, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Jean-Charles Worth. The present panel, Parfum, was originally acquired by Jean-Charles Worth, whose grandfather founded the illustrious House of Worth fashion house. Assuming the role of chief designer in the1910s, Jean-Charles Worth is credited with introducing simple forms and sleek designs to the fashion house epitomizing Art Deco fashion. Images of Jean-Charles Worth circa 1930, around the time the current work was acquired, were taken by Man Ray and are in the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
