Hey #Birds and #ausbirds I have been informed that what I previously thought were magpies are in fact pied currawongs. I learned that in time to understand today that the turf war outside my window was between two magpies and two currawongs, not four magpies.

A magpie-lark, or more commonly called a mudlark, a small black and white bird, with a pale green eye, and grey beak, is standing on green grass. It's beak is open, and we can see It's slightly forked pink tongue hanging out, in it's beak is a piece of food, and quite a bit of saliva.

A pied Cormorant, a water bird with black and white feathers, a yellow face, long grey/yellow beak and bright blue eyes, is paddling through water, most of it's body is submerged, with it's long neck out of the water. It is facing to the right, beneath it it's reflection is distorted and broken by small waves, around the bird is smaller ripples in blue water.
