Poem title: helplessly hoping
hopes & dreams receding
poverty & misery brought her here
future channeled transactionally
& paired with an image ©ilinkcs (2025) of a mural on a mall wall by a budding Banksy- quickly removed by mall-there, & then gone.
The image is of a mural on the Rosebank mall wall by a budding Banksy during covid - quickly removed by the mall - there, & then gone.
She has a rounded sensuous body in a flowing red dress, capped by a flat 2 dimensional emoji-like face signaling an undefined loss and sadness.
The intertwined figures in the background ~ her reality or her desire?
Trafficked reality or trafficked desire?
She sits rooted in an oily, murky, tepid bog.
A product, not a person.
There is so much going on in this mural, so much to touch the individual conscience, so much to mirror society's indifference.
Ghandi said "A society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable"
I sense that history will not be kind to us
How did she get here?
#Fall or #Fate?
#Poverty is the pathway to degradation & humiliation
learned from birth
embedded by life
If #society won't protect & preserve its children, its #culture & way of life will fail...
