Fade I am getting older now. But where is the wisdom I was promised? The power to always know the right thing to do, the best thing to say, the path to take, like mom and dad had. Where is my golden age of comfort? Cosy nights without worry, safe adventures, the quiet security of wealth, like mom and dad had. Bad decisions. Bad luck. I am left with reaction or inaction, half-living life through memories, bright sparks recorded in verse. And even those will one day fade.

I'm where I've always been fading into the background becoming scenery among vanishing pines and withering ferns nearly invisible you can't see me or is it that you won't? am I important enough to be noticed maybe even saved from this dullery? somehow it seems I deserve the darkness I've lived in it forever trying to dig my way out for a tiny chance to blossom and see the world in color give me your hand and we'll brighten this place together
