Close-up macro photo of a tree branch with several buds beginning to open. The buds have reddish-brown outer scales and soft yellow-green inner growth emerging from the tips. The branch is sharply focused against a smooth, blurred background in muted gray and beige tones, giving the image a calm, early-spring feel.

The macro photograph shows several bright orange mushrooms growing from the side of a horizontally lying tree trunk. They are shell-shaped and photographed partly from below, revealing gills that fan out from the point where the mushroom grows out of the wood to the edge. The edge of the upper side, which is slightly hairy, is also visible. Behind the mushrooms, you can see a gray sky with blurred tree branches.

Phyllotopsis nidulans is tiny and inedible, but it shines from afar in the gray winter forest. It was one of several species of mushrooms we found during our winter photo shoot in the swamp.

In the foreground of the macro photograph is a moss reproductive stalk with a capsule and cap. Another one can be seen at the bottom of the photograph. The capsule in the center is in focus, with a clear drop of water hanging from it. In the background are green moss leaves, and droplets, out of focus and blurred.

People post beautiful photos taken with telephoto lenses, and it's great to see animals that I would otherwise only see as dots in the distance. I try to photograph the tiny things that my phone camera can capture, but the principle is the same—you won't see […]

This one's more scientific in nature so I am calling it "Vorticity" for now. It's small plastic vial of olive oil that I shook and set sideways on top of a lit surface. Basically built a particle image velocimetry rig out of it lol 😂 #photography #fluiddynamics #macrophoto #canonEOSR6

The macro photograph shows a number of moss shoots in green and golden green colors. The shoots are cylindrical in shape, formed by a number of pointed leaves that overlap each other, and the leaves are twisted at the ends. The Latin name of the moss, cupressiforme, refers to its similarity to cypress twigs.

I used a flash to illuminate the transparent tails of Hypnum cupressiforme moss, wet from the rain, while taking photos. There isn't much light on a rainy day. That day, I found more species of moss than I expected in a small area of the forest. It paid off […]

Ultra high-resolution close portrait of an ice-white dragon in tight three-quarter profile, the head filling the frame with densely packed pebble-like scales and fine pore texture, a single crystalline blue eye with sharp catchlight and glossy corneal sheen, subtle moisture along the eyelid margin, small nostril and softly rounded snout, delicate whisker-like tendrils sweeping back along the cheek, and a clean unbroken scale pattern across the brow and nose bridge with no adornments, only natural raised nodes and faint frost-like microtexture; cool arctic palette with a pale blue subsurface tint beneath the white scales, matte facial scutes with gentle specular roll-off on raised edges, shallow creases and scale seams rendered with crisp microcontrast; seamless misty blue-gray studio background falling to creamy blur, softbox key from camera left with broad diffusion wrapping the snout, faint cooler fill from camera right to open shadow detail under the jawline, and a thin rim highlight tracing the cheek curve and upper neck; 100mm macro lens, f/2.8, razor focus on the eye and adjacent cheek scales with rapid falloff toward the crown and neck, clean framing that emphasizes the gaze and texture fidelity.

Ultra high-resolution macro portrait of a pale ivory dragon in tight three-quarter profile, the head filling the frame with dense overlapping scales and cracked reptilian microtexture, layered bony spines and hornlets sweeping back from the brow and cheek, a single vivid blue iris with sharp catchlight and glassy corneal sheen, narrow slit pupil, subtle moisture at the inner eyelid, and long tapered fangs emerging from a partially closed mouth; fine color variation across the hide with warm bone tones on the facial plates and cooler slate-blue scales along the crown ridge and neck, worn matte scutes with slight specular highlights on raised edges, tiny abrasions and grime in creases for believable age; neutral dark gray studio background falling to soft blur, controlled softbox key from camera left with gentle wrap and smooth highlight roll-off across the snout, faint cooler fill from camera right to open shadows under the jaw, crisp rim separation along the spines; 100mm macro lens, f/4, shallow depth of field with focus locked on the eye and cheek scales, creamy bokeh behind the horn line, clinically sharp texture detail and natural contrast with no stylization artifacts.

In the macro photograph, there is an area of bright green moss on the right. Its leaves are very thin and pointed, sticking up next to each other, so that the area looks like a green fur coat or lawn. Brown stems with elongated sacs at the ends protrude from the green area. Some of them have round, transparent drops of water on them. The background of the photograph on the right is a brownish-white blurred color.
