Headed out for a walk as soon as the rain had stopped and there were lots of raindrop opportunities to photograph. Particularly like the strong diagonals against the subtle horizontals, plus the capture of signs of spring on the first day of the new season. It's such an uplifting season - brings hope, colour and new beginnings. Our picture shows a peaceful riverside scene on what appears to be a cool, rainy day in Naas, Ireland. In the foreground, there is a small concrete weir, a low barrier stretching across the river framed by two large, rectangular concrete blocks on either side. The blocks are weathered and darkened with age, with patches of green moss clinging to their damp surfaces. Water spills gently over the lip of the weir, forming a smooth, dark blue sheet before tumbling down into a frothy, white churn below. The falling water creates a soft cascade, and beneath it the river swirls energetically, bubbling and foaming as it continues downstream. Just beside the rushing water, at the bottom right of the image, clumps of wet grass and low green plants grow along the muddy bank.
