In the centre of the photo a small orange weevil seen from the side and behind. The typical elongated head is slightly out of focus. The left diagonal part of the photo is black, while the rest shows a dark brown boardwalk made of recycled plastic.

Another day, another #IDRequest. 😀
Does anybody know what this tiny orange weevil is? Found on our boardwalk a couple of days ago.

A small black shiny beetle is facing top left. Its antennae are just about visible, as are a couple of legs. It's sitting on a dark brown plastic boardwalk.

We unearthed this Silphid (?) beetle this week. We understand they eat snails? Anyway, can anybody give an ID from this photo?

A small bee sat on a long white petal. It's a side view of a ~10mm long bee which is mail black with white fur highlights, and stripes on its thorax. The underside of its abdomen is covered in yellow hairs, and pollen. It's also got a dusting of yellow pollen on its legs, its head, and its jaws.

A close up of a small bee standing on the yellow heart of a daisy. It's mainly black with white fur highlights, and yellow pollen scattered on its face and thorax.

Can anyone give some help with an #idrequest? I think this is a Large Headed Resin #bee, taken today on a small Oxeye Daisy, near Southampton. It seems to be in their range, but my #id skills mean I'm struggling to confirm it. #solitarybee #invertebrates #bwars

Blunt tailed snake millipede?

Blunt tailed snake millipede?

Last year I found one of these & ID’ed it as Cylindroiulus punctatus (blunt-tailed snake millipede) but this year, finding another, I’m less sure.
For now sticking with it as initial ID.
Central MA, USA, night time on house siding.

So this fly landed on our terrace in #Extremadura, SW #Spain a few weeks ago, and stayed just long enough for a single photo. Startling markings, is it an Exoprosopa species Bee-fly maybe?

Very smart (if small) ichneumon wasp with an impressive ovipositor from the Lye Valley. Any chance of an ID to species, or will it languish for eternity as just another one of the mainly black-bodied species with orange legs...

Does this look right for the green form of an Elephant Hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) larva? 🤔
About 5cm long, and spotted yesterday on Willowherb in the Lye Valley. Too breezy for a sharper photo sadly...

Am I right in thinking this is one of the Ephippiger species of Bush Cricket? Saw quite a few, but none agreed to emerge from the dense vegetation for a clear photo...

One (or perhaps the only) advantage of cooler summer days is that insects are less active. I managed this rather nice photo of a fly in the back garden a couple of days ago, waiting for the temperature to rise. Does anyone know what it is? #IDRequest #Diptera

Predator and prey.
I saw something land on a log in front of me this morning, but couldn't work out what sort of thing it was. Not surprising really since it was two things. Can anyone give me an ID for either or both insects please?
