Looks like a Dung Fly but the eyes are v. dark. Seemed bigger and hair less dense than S. stercoraria. Long dark hairs on legs.
Not a great photo, no dorsal view (it was raining hard at the time).

Meliscaeva auricollis, hoverfly on dandelion flower in the arable margin at VP
Norellia spinipes on a daffodil leaf at VP. They seem to favour this single clump each spring.
Other signs of spring at VP this morning with G included male Meliscaeva auricollis, 1st hov of the year for me I think, and Norellia spinipes on their favourite clump of daffodils. #diptera #ukwildlife

Having got the new fly book I couldn't resist photographing this Sepsid fly so in the only 10 minutes spell of sunshine we had today #diptera
A fabulous golden fluffy fly sits on a nice fresh soggy cowpat.
Scathophaga stercoraria or Yellow Dungfly. ‘Yellow’ just doesn’t do it justice. It’s a glorious, fabulous gold and if it was a small mammal everyone would want one as a pet. They’re so fluffy!

A detailed macro photograph of a tiny, dark moth fly perched perfectly on the sweeping, velvety fold of a vivid, deep red flower petal. The fly's body and rounded, translucent wings are densely covered in thick, bristly grey and brown hairs. It is gripping the edge of the petal with delicate dark legs, and its long, strongly segmented antennae curve forward. The smooth, glowing red surface of the petal behind and around the insect is lightly dusted with microscopic, bright yellow specks of pollen.
Some kind of really delicate Psychodidae (moth fly) I found on a flower.
Shame the picture quality wasn't there to identify it well.
