lol this is awesome, we should find a way to include transformers into #invertfest while not infringing on the pure invertness.

But surely robots count as having exoskeletons

final art.

I'm thinking about submiting this one for the next #InvertFest art book. Should I send the PNG file or a high-res sketchbook photo like this one?

Just about out of days for #invertfest but that's okay, I'm just about out of invertebrate plushes. Obviously I need to make more! This is Legslegslegs the millipede. Three feet and 72 legs. :D

More #invertfest fun, here's Antos! Also Mort, but rats are definitely vertebrates. Lol.

A hermit crab that tucks into a pocket on a shell-shaped pillow. One of my favorite plushes ever! #invertfest

Left, Swallowtails drinking from damp spot on trail w/ admiral (?) nearby. Right -Circle of life- ants and fritillary (?). N. Colorado. More of a botanist and birder; spp. ID is my best guess.

Wooly slugs! Also called wiggle worms. If you pet them just right, they'll curl and wiggle under your hand like they're alive. I used to sell these at the local farmer's/craft market.

Slugs are invertebrates, even the fuzzy ones. :D #invertfest

I wanted to make something new for #invertfest but uh... *gestures at rest of blog*

So I'm gonna recap some favorite past invertebrate plushes instead. Starting with this very dapper Octopus, based on Octavia from MLP. Oct-tavia. Can't resist a silly pun.

The full image of those Planthoppers shows how closely they were gathered together.

Interestingly though, Siphanta acuta females are not known to display parental care behaviours as other #Hemipteta can. So I’m not sure what was happening here.

I was installing some refurbished bead-board on the porch ceiling today when this little greenie stopped by to inspect my work. Said he was a foreman but I didn’t see any clipboard or blueprints so… #inverts #InvertFest #insects 🌿

A large brown moth perched on a balcony railing on one of the vertical bars, which is painted blue. The paint is beginning to peel away. The bars of the rail all have square cross sections. The moth's wings are large, brown, and have a dark false eye spot near the top corner of its upper wings. Its wings stick straight out of its back rather than being folded flat on its back. Its body is like a short, thick, and fuzzy cigar. Its six legs are also fuzzy, an it sports two plumose antennae on its head above its two round, black compound eyes

A big, chonky Callosomia moth of some type, I think it is probably a Tulip Tree Silkmoth. Those wings are quite big. And check out those big plumose antennae!

Post image The blue-eyed darner is a common dragonfly native to the western United States. They are busy creating future generations in this photo.

The blue-eyed darner is a large species with a length of 65–70 mm (2.6–2.8 in). The eyes of both males and females are bright blue. The male is dark brown to brownish black. The top of the thorax, behind the head, is marked with two blue stripes, and each side of the thorax is marked with a pair of blue diagonal stripes. The abdomen is marked with both large and small blue spots. The anal appendages of males and females are forked and the female is marked similarly to the male; however, the base color is brown and the markings are green. Wkipedia

I loved the smoky blue swirl in their eye.

(They might be a Long-horned Bee - Melissodes druriellus - but I'm not sure.)
