Almost didn't see this Pale Prominent with its twig like appearance, well probably if it had been on a tree trunk. #teammoth #cornishmoths #ukmoth

A reason why we have let our front garden go wild, umpteen bee species and pollinators and always great to see a Hummer turn up. #UKMoth #TeamMoth @epollard.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social @bc-hertsmiddx.bsky.social @bc-cambs-essex.bsky.social

Six-spot Burnet moth

Six-spot Burnet moth

One of the Six-spot Burnet moths I mentioned earlier. Seen at Woodwalton Marsh. Not to be confused with Woodwalton Fen, the Marsh is basically a meadow alongside the railway in Wood Walton #teamMoth #UKMoth

Burnet Companion moth

Burnet Companion moth

Beautiful Burnet Companion moth at Woodwalton Marsh. The name might suggest that they're present when the burnet moths are around, sharing the meadow habitat, but usually their flight periods don't overlap that much except there were Six-spot Burnet around yesterday so who knows? #teamMoth #UKMoth

Hairy caterpillar, larva, of The Drinker moth

Hairy caterpillar, larva, of The Drinker moth

A larva of The Drinker moth at Monk's Wood, Cambs

Euthrix potatoria #teamMoth #UKMoth

Linnaeus called it potataria to mean "like a drinker", Goedaert had called the animal "dronckaerdt" meaning drunkard

The larvae purportedly drink droplets of dew from grass stems

41 of 23 last night, 14 of them Heart & Dart. Always lovely to see Elephant Hawk-moth and Cinnabar, but nothing else as big and bright. #teamMoth #UKMoth (11C and dry, just north of Cambridge)

A pale yellow, triangular moth with brown splotches along the outer edges of it's wings. The wings are slightly unfolded and it's maybe an inch across in size. It's resting on my boyfriend's ceiling and I took a photo of it using the zoom and flash on my phone at night (so the photo might not be the best quality).

My boyfriend and I were just visited by what I'm pretty sure is a brimstone moth! It's currently chilling out on his ceiling. Wikipedia has a better photo: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brimsto.... I love getting to see our local moths.

October might be β€˜trick or treating’ but November Moth is already here. I think this is a Pale November Moth that casually came in the front door for the light but perhaps safer to say it is one of the Epirrita #ukmoth

A slow start to September in the garden. (after a record poor August)
Saving graces were a Sand Martin in with the House Martins, of which there is still at least one active nest, 2-3 Marsh Tits and today’s random #UKMoth on the wall - Willow Beauty. A bit high for a decent photo

Garden devoid of activity, a Hobby over (yesterday at least there was a Hobby and a Willow Warbler) Hopefully the Easterlies will turn things around.
Random #UKMoth discovery this morning, was this amazing, and new to me, Old Lady. I’ll avoid the obvious Mrs. Prof jokes. 😚
