The eclectic ensemble of metal rooster sculptures is truly eye-catching. Each piece exhibits a whimsical expression, embodying creativity and resourcefulness through recycled materials. This enchanting exhibit sits in a rustic environment, where the rooster’s vibrant colors enhance the weathered, white wooden shelf. Their expressive stance and quirky features give the display an endearing personality, inviting everyone who passes by to pause and enjoy this unique artistic creation.

A stand of purplish-blue globe thistles at the Denver Botanic Garden in Colorado. Barely visible is an orange insect on one of the center blossoms.
Echinops for #WeekEforEasy.
Thank you to all of the #AlphabetChallenge participants who incentivized me with their lovely globe thistles photos. I lack for original thought much of the time.

Like the idea how John @johnlaroe.bsky.social illustrated the #WeekEforEasy theme.
The portrait shows a close-up of a cat with striking, vivid emerald green eyes as the focal point. The cat’s coat is predominantly black with subtle patches of orange and tan—typical of a tortoiseshell pattern. The fur is glossy, with light highlighting the color variations, especially around the cheeks, whisker pads, and chest. The background is softly blurred in shades of blue and gold, which helps accentuate the cat’s expressive face and intense gaze.
Good morning everyone, this is Bonnie giving you the side emerald eye and wishing all our feline friends and cat lovers a happy #caturday!

I’m grateful for all the beautiful plants Mother Nature created to bring beauty, food, healing, and so much more into our lives. An artichoke, scientifically known as Cynara scolymus, is actually a flower bud of a thistle plant. If left unharvested, it will develop into a beautiful, large, violet-purple flower. Here 4 green Artichoke buds in the background are depicted, with one more artichoke bud in the foreground, that developed into a blooming flower. Its thistle-like flower head has numerous small, purple disk florets in the middle, reminding me a little bit of thin tentacles. The outer layers of the bud are called bracts, which are fleshy, triangular scales that protect the developing flower. The part we eat, before a flower develops, the "heart", is the fleshy receptacle and base of the leaves (bracts) of this immature flower bud. The "choke" is the inedible, fuzzy part on top of the heart
Gratitude & attitude are not challenges, they are choices.

a goldfinch sat on top of cornflowers with seeds in its beak. Some of the cornflowers are still in bloom with their pretty blue pompoms and some are now seed heads which the goldfinch is particularly interested in
another goldfinch with its back to me, head turned to the side as if it knows it has been caught in the act of stealing my wildflower seeds. I don't begrudge him them

Wispy clouds are lit with a peachy pink light by the setting sun that also illuminates the Moon above the tree line at the end of our garden. The sky is a soft and fading blue as the light gradually goes.

One of my favorite pics of wild Indian #elephants. Happy to NOT see any (but we did hear and smell them), since in Madikeri they ain't playin'. My guide had a whole escape checklist to learn before he would take me. Excellent hike.

Kanchipuram. Most of the photo is of an Indian elephant with his mahout sitting atop, on a typical south Indian street. A group of four men are standing just in front of the elephant; at least one has just been blessed (the elephant bops you on the head with its trunk), and looks happy. In front of the elephant, and tween laughs towards her friends on the stoop. In the foreground, two men seated on the stoop look at me, with several bikes around. Lots of signs are visible, with writing in Tamil. Taken on a road trip, probably 2006.
Vaitheswaran. The photo is of the interior of an intricately-carved temple, with a hallway lined with elaborately-carved, pink pillars and a colorfully-painted ceiling. In the foreground, on the right, a richly-dressed woman and meh-dressed man give offerings to a large elephant with a painted face, standing with his mahout. In the middle distance, a shaft of light illuminates something in gold. People are walking in both directions. Taken on a road trip, probably 2008.
Mahabilipuram. The photo is of the intricately-carved face of an enormous rocky outcrop. Among the many small men and gods pictured is an enormous elephant, with several smaller elephants under and around him. It is quite a famous piece in this city, called Arjuna's Penance, or, the Descent of the Ganges, and is something like 1500 years old. Mahabs is close to Chennai, where I was living, so this could have been taken on any of many occasions.

Lots of African #elephants, so here are a few from a different time and part of the world - Tamil Nadu, India. Elephants were rare in the temples and streets by the time I lived there (2005-2010). 1 Kanchipuram; 2 Vaitheswaran; 3 Mahabilipuram.
