Letting go of the need to pursue figurative work leads to freedom of expression; the smaller canvas forces you to confront your intent. When you take the time to create, what do you want to share? The human experience, the cliche that it is, is still unique to the individual. How do you choose to express? What do you create? How do I take my abstract feelings and express them in a concrete medium? It isn't that I'm depicting a place, I'm depicting an emotion, feeling, sensation. How do I paint the sensation of the wind in your hair, early morning sun pouring through you? Or the feeling of sitting under a waterfall? The stillness you feel late at night reading a book? The taste of a ripe peach? The sensation of staples being removed from my head, or when I broke my arm, or chipped a tooth. The way your tongue stings after taking a bite of too hot pizza. Would it be a sin to paint the sensation of wet socks? How do I paint my frustration? How do I confront the injustices of societies with paint??? How do I paint the feeling of drowning? Of sinking and knowing what's happening, struggling with watching the world around you crumble? Knowing that everyone you know is in the same position, yet still coming together to try to help one another. How do I paint knowing how many people will be hungry? How do I paint suffering? How do I paint a ruined society? How do I depict a flood? How do I express the knowledge of finding hope in hopelessness? How can a painting change the world? How can a painting change a person? How can painting change me? What I express in paint is no longer bouncing around my head. It can exist somewhere for people to look at and go "it makes me feel some type of way" and probably we feel the same type of way. This painting was me expressing some type of way of feeling and I think it really did that so if you feel some type of way then you probably do too. I hope you understand that this was intentional and I'm grateful for the opportunity to feel some

SUN RISE TO MEET THE DAY SO TOO DO MY BONES RAISE FROM MY GRAVE TO OUTLIVE ANOTHER DAY SUN LIGHT SUN BRIGHT SUN SHINE SUN SHITE did you know that light is a form of non ionizing radiation? If light is manna from heaven does that mean god's love is ionizing? Her fecundity lays below the bedrock of reality, her gifts clinging to the skyline climbing above the horizon. Unable to lay eye upon it lest we go blind, yet without it nothing can be seen, are we blind without knowing it?

Stripped of identity humanity blindly lumbering towards certain annihilation, bereft of emotion does the soul experience oblivion? This sixth and final panel of my hellscape hexaptych is packed to the brim with symbolism, the presiding archdemon eating golden apples drinking blood, the necronomicon observes the procession, the hellhound split twain revealing its true nature, the alegria stick figures marching to the chopping block, the trough and bucket, the infernal arbor mirroring the tree in the hanged man's cemetary, similarly being nourished by the sanguine, the chaff off flow dripping down to the higher planes, the flames of eternal desecration filling the sky with white hot conflagration, the absurdist escherian landscape roiling in upon itself betraying the journey's frayed ends. In retrospect (you don't understand how much I love this piece) in retrospect I missed the titan's tongue (their serpent tail and hound having matching lingua) and the trough and bucket iconography could have been swapped for some variety of well system. Nonetheless in revisiting this work I find myself reinvigorated on my own journey, and am excited to continue working on my life's work. I'm planning to do one more post with all six pieces to wrap up before moving on. I hope you've enjoyed this descent into hell!
And finally we arrive in our destination, deep on the contorted geometry of condemnation where reality folds in upon itself, the souls of the damned trudging towards oblivion ((alt++))

I always assumed a connection between laputa and lapis lazuli but I could be wrong, lapis is also the traditional pigment used to make ultramarine blue
I've always assumed the name ultramarine to be a pun, "beyond the sea" blue in reference to both the pigment being shipped from across the sea as well as the color itself being beyond the blue of the sea

Photo Origami- Using Photo Editing Software, start with a single source image and cut it into sections. Then using those sections, construct a composite using multiple copies of those sections folded back upon itself. There are 13 vertical folds and 0 horizontal folds. Original photo was taken using Kodak Gold 100 35mm film. Color negative was scanned using a Nikon Coolscan 4000 scanner. Photoshop version 4 was used to create the folded image.

I've had that friggin song stuck in my head for a week and have been intentionally looking for a replacement. Two big contenders are Demons by Fatboy Slim and Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. I was listening to the Fatboy Slim best-of album in the studio the other day and re heard Demons and can't lie, it got me a little emotional. Got a good hook, a catchy tune, a positive message. Oddly, I caught the last 30 seconds of ring of fire one night this week on my way to the game store to play magic. Again, fire hook, catchy melody, meaningful message. Two days later I'm at the dentist, in the chair, and what comes on? Ring of Fire. I chat with the nurse about it, she's enjoying it as the new dentist is playing new music. On the ceiling directly where I'm staring while she scrape my teeth is a new fire alarm... with the words "FIRE FIRE FIRE" written in red in the shape of a ring. And what do alarms do? They ring, a ring of fire.

In recent months, the former Holsten Brewery site in Hamburg has been transformed into a lunar landscape. The brewery was due to be demolished, with the exception of the historic buildings, and the area was to be developed for new construction. However, as a result of the investor＇s bankruptcy, the site has been filled with rubble and debris for the past three years.
