Two large, snow-covered beech trees stand very close together, one with a large main trunk from which a smaller branch extends, and the other with an even larger trunk. More trees can be seen in the background. The sky is a very pale pastel orange compared to the almost bluish snow, because the sun has just risen.

I only had to step outside my front door to take the photo a few minutes ago. The snow is sticky. That's why it clings so well to the #trees.

As branches grow long and heavy, they tend to droop. The tree compensates by producing “tension wood.”
