This female Tawny Cockroach (one of our three native species) was an irregular visitor to the Upton garden moth trap last night, bringing her egg-laden ootheca with her #blattodea
Eine Nymphe der Waldschabe (Ectobius sylvestris) im Seitenprofil auf verwittertem Holz. Das flügellose Jungtier zeigt die charakteristische braun-orange Färbung des Halsschildes und der vorderen Körperpartie, während der Hinterleib dunkelbraun bis schwarz gefärbt ist. Die langen, fadenförmigen Fühler und die gut entwickelten Beine sind deutlich erkennbar.
Detailaufnahme einer Waldschaben-Nymphe von der Seite auf Holzuntergrund. Die glänzende Oberfläche des flügellosen Körpers und die charakteristische Farbverteilung mit hellem Vorderkörper und dunklem, segmentiertem Abdomen sind gut sichtbar. Die Antenne erstreckt sich elegant nach vorn, während die kräftigen Laufbeine eine typische Haltung zeigen.
Aufsicht auf eine Waldschaben-Nymphe auf Holzoberfläche. Der breite, schildförmige Halsschild in bernsteinbrauner Färbung dominiert das Bild, darunter ist der dunkle, quergefurchte Hinterleib zu sehen. Als Jungtier fehlen noch die Flügel der ausgewachsenen Schabe. Die gefiederten Antennen sind nach oben gerichtet, und die robusten Vorderbeine sind gut erkennbar.
Nicht alles, was wie eine Schabe aussieht, ist direkt eine der ungeliebten Küchenschaben. Hier handelt es sich wohl um die Nymphe einer Waldschabe (Ectobius sylvestris). Sie ernähren sich von verrottenden Pflanzenteilen.
