The Walls Vineyards Stanley Groovy Lip Stinger 2023, Washington State Nice color of lemon with a golden hue. Nose of citrus, lemons, apples, earth, spices, limes and minerals. Medium bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with grapefruits, lemons, green apples, spices, bitter herbs and light earth. Tangy finish with limes and spices. This is a very tasty white Rhone blend from Washington State. Elegant and nicely balanced. Spicy, delicate and entertaining. Feels like a White Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A lovely surprise. Good right out of the bottle, gets earthier as it opens up, and the high alcohol is not noticeable. Good by itself or with food, and paired very nicely with the Avocado Tuna Tartar. A blend of 60% Grenache Blanc, 18% Roussanne, 9% Picpoul, 9% Viognier and 4% Marsanne. 14.6% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $32.

This is a very young Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Complex and engaging. Nicely balanced and spicy. The high alcohol is well integrated already. Ripe and fresh tasting at this point, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. A blend of 75% Grenache and 15% Syrah with some Mourvedre and Cinsault. Aged mostly in concrete vats for 12 months. 16% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $50.

Already showing beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. Nice finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This Single Vineyard Grenache from Walla Walla Valley is very stinky and austere on the nose. Complex and very interesting, but not what I expected at all. Feels more like an old world wine. Wine Advocate 95 points. Wine Spectator 94 points. Wine Enthusiasts 94 points. I had a recent vintage a couple of years ago and it showed much better. Might just be this particular bottle, or it could be past its prime by now. A good quality wine and still very drinkable. 13.2% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $120.

This 8 year old GSM blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape is delicious now. Complex, well balanced and entertaining. Elegant and fruit forward. I had the 2020 vintage not too long ago, and this one drinks so much better. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Robert Parker 93 points. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. A blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Aged in large French oak barrels for 18 months. 15% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $55.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. This Single Vineyard Mourvèdre based blend is very interesting. Well balanced and complex with a nice mouthfeel. A good quality wine. A tasty sipping wine that will pair nicely with food too. A blend of 50% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 26% Cinsault and 4% Syrah. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $100.

This is a tasty Grenache from Columbia Valley in Washington State. Elegant and fruit forward, with a soft mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and complex. This Single Vineyard Grenache is easy drinking and very approachable already. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves. A nice sipping wine that will pair nicely with food too. Grenache grapes were aged in (20% new) French oak barrels for 23 months. 14.8% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $45.

Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This Grenache blend from the great 2022 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is already drinking very nicely. Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but very approachable now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 63% Grenache, 13% Mourvedre, 11% Syrah, 7% Counoise, 5% Cinsault and 1% local varieties. Aged in large French oak barrels and concrete vats for 22 months. 15% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $65.

Brassfield Estates Winery Proprietary Red Volcano Ridge Vineyard Eruption 2021, California Dark purple in color with a short reddish rim. Strong and fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, black pepper, vanilla, licorice, light spices and milk chocolates. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, tobacco and light herbs. Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries. This 5 year old California red blend is drinking very nicely now. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and complex. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. This Single Vineyard is soft and buttery. Spicy and bold. Tangy and very entertaining. The high alcohol is somewhat showing. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes of airtime. Good by itself, and will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Grenache and Zinfandel. Aged for 10 months in French and American Oak barrels. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $20.

This is such an interesting red wine from California. Feels like a very light Southern Rhone red. Fruit forward and elegant. Nicely balanced with mild complexity. Good right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up. Easy drinking, and good by itself or with food. A nice wine to pair with a nice day by the pool. A blend of 95% Counoise and 5% Grenache. Aged for 18 months in (24% new) French oak barrels. A tiny production of less than 1,200 bottles. 12.5% alcohol by volume. 88 points. $38.
