Medium length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced and complex. Rich and fruit forward. Delicate and engaging. Elegant and easy drinking right out of the bottle, and much better after 2 hours in the decanter. Showing a very pretty nose once it opens up. This Single Vineyard Red Blend will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. I had the 2021 vintage a year ago and it is very consistent. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. 14.1% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $50.

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back! Deep ruby in color with a reddish rim. Nose of black currants, blackberries, black cherries, cedar, coffee, toast, light vanilla, dark chocolates, peppercorn, licorice, light earth, herbs and spices. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with cooked plums, currants, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn. Long finish with medium tannins and tangy cherries. This is a young Bordeaux blend from Yountville in Napa Valley. Rich and extracted. Dense and fruit forward. Chewy and interesting. This Single Vineyard is very dry right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime. Nicely balanced and complex. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Good by itself or with food. A blend of 51% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec. 14.2% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $80.

Strong nose of black fruits with light cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, cola, herbs and spices. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, black plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, coffee, herbs, dark chocolates, black tea, peppercorn and cola. Long finish with no tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious 10-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla Valley. Rich and fruit forward. Complex and nicely balanced. Good right out of the bottle and didn't evolve much with air, even after after 2 hours. Wine Enthusiasts 90 points. I had this vintage 7 years ago, and it is so much better now. Probably a little past its peak, but delicious nonetheless. A little flat at this point, but very tasty. I love these Cabernet based Bordeaux blends. Easy drinking and a great sipping wine. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged in (28% new) French Oak barrels. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $45 (current vintage).

Nice length on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a young Cabernet Franc from Mendoza. Rich and extracted with lots of earth and vegetable notes. Needs 5 years in the bottle to mature, but already drinking nicely. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Complex and interesting enough to drink by itself. A good food wine too, that will pair nicely with lamb dishes. 100% Cabernet Franc grapes were aged for 18 months in (50% new) French Oak barrels. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $50.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Very dry on the palate with raspberries, cherries, light wood, peppercorn, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, light earth and black tea. Nice finish with grippy tannins and tangy cherries. This is a very interesting red blend from Red Mountain. Powerful and fruit forward. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, so be patient. Feels young, especially on the palate and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Nicely balanced, and good by itself or with food. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Malbec and 20% Syrah. 13.1% alcohol by volume. 89 points. $59.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries. This 5 year old California red blend is drinking very nicely now. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and complex. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. This Single Vineyard is soft and buttery. Spicy and bold. Tangy and very entertaining. The high alcohol is somewhat showing. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes of airtime. Good by itself, and will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Grenache and Zinfandel. Aged for 10 months in French and American Oak barrels. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $20.

Needed 90 minutes in the decanter to open up properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Wine Advocate 97 points. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. A blend of 62% Malbec and 38% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 15 months. 14% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $110.
