In #Minneapolis the rule is never plant most things until after June 1st. Temps can dip below 40 degrees at any time before then. I think we're starting to push that back a couple weeks but not last year, planted a couple peppers a week early it bit me in the ass, stunted. #mnwx 🌱

The sound the planes are making is definitely taking on a different tone with the storm right now, muffled a bit. #MSP #mnwx

Cracking up at this in the NWS #mnwx forecast discussion on why they have a blizzard warning:

“In addition, when the common citizen looks out the window
Sunday morning (ie. not the blizzard purist!), they'll likely say,
yup, this is one heck of a blizzard.”

The highest forecasted snowfall totals include 12 to 24+ inches for the areas of Ashland, Gogebic, Iron, and Ontonagon counties away from the Lake Superior shoreline, as well as most of Sawyer and Washburn counties. Other snowfall totals include 10 to 20 inches for the rest of northwest Wisconsin, 8 to 16 inches for the I-35 Corridor, 5 to 10 inches in the Twin Ports, 2 to 6 inches for the southern section of the South Shore and the Iron Range, and under 2 inches for the Rainy River Basin and Boundary Waters regions.

Due to the combination of heavy snowfall rates and persistent strong winds, the winter storm severity index is in a major impact category for portions of northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, with moderate impact extending across the rest of these regions. This means travel is not advised during the storm system's impact in the area, and could be dangerous to do so.

Blizzard Warning issued March 14 at 1:08PM CDT until March 16 at 4:00AM CDT by NWS Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN
Counties: Stearns; Benton; Sherburne; Isanti; Chisago; Wright; Hennepin; Anoka; Ramsey; Washington; Carver; Scott; Dakota; Goodhue
...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 AM CDT MONDAY...

...HISTORIC MARCH WINTER STORM ON TRACK TO BRING EXTREME SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AND STRONG WINDS... ...A WINTRY MIX OF RAIN, FREEZING RAIN, AND SLEET LATE TONIGHT ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA... ...TRAVEL MAY BECOME IMPOSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT AND SUNDAY...

.A historic March winter storm will move across the Upper Midwest starting this evening and lasting into Sunday night.

Heavy snow with a broad area of 12 to 18 inches expected across central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A narrow swath within the broader area may approach 2 feet in parts of far east central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. Rates of 2 to 2.5 inches per hour are likely late tonight into Sunday morning. A wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, and sleet is expected to work north into I-90 corridor of southern Minnesota tonight. A half inch of sleet and a tenth of an inch of ice are expected along the I-90 corridor. The wintry mix will turn to all snow Sunday morning.

Winds will increase on Sunday. Even though the snow will be tapering off gradually throughout Sunday, northwest winds will increase to 35 to 45 mph. Some gusts of 50 to 55 mph are possible across the Minnesota River Valley. The combination of falling snow, blowing snow, and gusty winds will reduce visibility and create blizzard conditions late tonight through Sunday evening across central and southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Travel is expected to become very difficult or impossible late tonight through Sunday evening. In addition, the amount of water in the snowpack will make it very heavy, leading to the potential for infrastructure damage and a health hazard for those

I don't remember the last time we had a blizzard warning in urban areas. There'll be a brief period of extremely heavy snow + winds gusting to 45mph. Definitely plan to cancel everything for the next 24 hours in the Twin Cities and western/NE Wisconsin. #mnwx #wiwx
