We have an interesting observation (one data figure with several experiments) regarding one of the commonly used tools, which we believe might be important for the #CellDeath community. Which of cell death/immunology journals still publish article types such as "Correspondence", "Brief reports" etc?

One other recent RIP work is www.nature.com/articles/s41..., a paper that describes how viruses like #HSV1 and #InfluenzaA disrupt transcription, resulting in the expression of #ZRNA (a unique form of RNA), and that leads to #CellDeath, which is believed to be an #antiviral mechanism of the host.

🧪 the landscape of cell death is online! Spent half a year in Seattle, WA in @drewoberst.bsky.social `s lab, where we came up with a new way to conceptualize cell death commitment, similar to Waddington's famous landscape of lineage commitment! Thanks TJ and Andrew! #celldeath (free access👇)

Single-cell analysis reveals cell death as driver of NLRP3-mediated secretion of IL-1β in human monocytes - Nature Immunology Lamkanfi, Shirasaki, Izawa and colleagues show that IL-1β release in human monocytes stimulated with lipopolysaccharide or carrying NLRP3 activatory mutations is mostly restricted to cells undergoing ...

Even rare #CellDeath events matter: a new study from Lamkanfi lab shows that small fraction of pyroptotic monocytes accounts for the most of IL-1β production following LPS stimulation, challenging the previously proposed models of IL-1β secretion from the living cells:

Randal #Halfmann, who oversaw the work, observed that these #proteins don't always wait for a virus.

Given enough time—over a lifespan—they will spontaneously crystallize on their own. This misfire leads to #CellDeath and #inflammation.
