Last week I posted a #preprint entitled “The global relationship between flowering plant and #pollinator diversity holds true across scales, latitude, and human influence”.

I was not prepared for what happened after it went live on 2nd March! Read more here:

Robot Pollinator Could Produce More, Better Crops for Indoor Farms Newswise — A new robot could solve one of the biggest challenges facing indoor farmers: manual pollination. Indoor farms, also known as vertical farms, are popular among agricultural researchers and are expanding across the agricultural industry. Some benefits they have over outdoor farms include: Year-round production of food crops Less water and land requirements Not needing pesticides Reducing carbon emissions from shipping Reducing food waste Additionally, some studies indicate that indoor farms produce more nutritious food for urban communities. However, these farms are often inaccessible to birds, bees, and other natural pollinators, leaving the pollination process to humans. The tedious process must be completed by hand for each flower to ensure the indoor crop flourishes. Ai-Ping Hu, a principal research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), has spent years exploring methods to efficiently pollinate flowering plants and food crops in indoor farms to find a way to efficiently pollinate flower plants and food crops in indoor farms. Hu, Assistant Professor Shreyas Kousik of the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, and a rotating group of student interns have developed a robot prototype that may be up to the task. The robot can efficiently pollinate plants that have...

`The frog fed on different plant parts, consuming fruits, floral structures and nectar with suction-like movements, and we observed pollen grains adhered to the frog's back, which renders this treefrog as a potential pollinator, besides its already established role as seed disperser... My, what a big tongue you have. All the better for eating that nectar with, I'd say!
Plus, a little sweet treat of mangoes served in baffle cages to really get their tongues working and some brain stimulation in.

Graphical Abstract: A 4-year survey of Cremastra appendiculata var. variabilis pollinators was conducted using a commercially available sensor camera throughout the flowering period. Additionally, sensor cameras and interval photography were used simultaneously to compare the number of videos capturing bumblebees. The results showed that using a commercially available sensor camera effectively captures flower-visiting bumblebees, with only a small proportion of visits potentially missed.

🌸Exciting #pollinator research at #ECTE2026! Dr. Agnes Dellinger (@the-kunsze.bsky.social) presented on how #environmental shifts can trigger pollinator shifts.

Key takeaway: it’s not just one factor, it’s a mix of macro/micro-ecology and shifting biotic communities.
